Consultations

I am a trained Herbalist and a professional member of the NZAMH (New Zealand Association of Medical Herbalists). I offer consultations in Wānaka and Cromwell area, and online. Consultations can be booked on Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturday mornings.

I work alongside individuals and families with a diverse range of health and well-being conditions.

What to expect?

Allow 90 minutes for your initial consultation. During this time, we will establish what health issues you are facing and discuss your general health and well-being.

For a child, the initial consultation is 30-45 minutes.

After the initial consultation, I email your personalised treatment plan within a few days. I talk you through the plan.

Your treatment plan may include herbal extracts, herbal teas, herbal powders, tonics or topical treatments. This is guided by  the conditions being treated and your preferences.

It is important to understand that you are an active part in the healing process.

Follow up consultations are 30 minutes (or 15 minutes for a child), and usually takes place after one month of taking the herbal remedies.

If you are unsure, you can book a 10-minute phone call to assess whether this is for you or not, 027 905 8863.

How does it work?

Consultations can take place:

  • at your home, if you live in the Wānaka/Cromwell area, and if it is convenient to you
  • at the Community  House in Cromwell, 5 Murray Terrace
  • at the Community Hub in Wānaka, 34 McDougall Street
  • online, from the comfort of your own home

How much does it cost?

As a medical Herbalist, I want herbal medicine to be affordable to as many people as possible.

This is why I am using a sliding scales system, and offering a limited number of appointments by koha.

The variation in price depends on your income and what you can afford to pay :

Tier 1

This tier applies if you are comfortably able to meet all your basic needs, have access to financial security or financial savings and have an expandable income.

Initial consultation: $135
Follow-up appointment: $55

Tier 2

This tier applies if you find yourself in between the highest cost and lowest cost. For example, you may be able to make ends meet but have still debts to pay off and have limited expandable income.

Initial consultation: $95
Follow-up appointment: $40

Tier 3

This tier applies if you find it difficult to access health care, and other basic needs.

Initial consultation: $65
Follow-up appointment: $30

Acute herbal medicine consultation (15mins) – $30 + cost of herbs.

Any costs associated with herbal remedies I recommend will be discussed during your initial consultation.

My philosophy
Why do I do it ?

  • I believe that we would all benefit from eating and drinking more herbs on a daily basis.
  • I believe in preventative medicine. The body is amazing, and can have a fantastic way of healing itself but sometimes we get out of balance. Herbs and herbal medicine can help reaching the balance again (this is what we called homeostasis).
  • Plants are powerful and they hold wonderful medicine. I aim to share with you simple herbal remedies and knowledge about local edible plants.
  • I believe in sharing knowledge to allow people to grow their own medicine and empower them with their health.
  • My work is grounded in respect for both the plants and the unique needs of each individual.

What is a medical herbalist?

For me, being a medical herbalist involves connecting with individuals and plants to promote health
and well-being.
It requires a profound understanding of plant medicine and its application, and a commitment to the holistic treatment of ailments which can have emotional, spiritual and physical aspects.
It encompasses crafting and prescribing herbal remedies as well as educating and empowering people about natural health practices.

It involves working alongside individuals and families with a diverse range of health and well-being conditions, and creating individualised remedies to suit your needs and lifestyle.

What is herbal medicine ?

Herbal medicine (also called phytotherapy), combines scientific knowledge and research of physiology and medicine with traditional knowledge of medicinal plants in order to support and help the dynamic systems of the body. It aims to restore the balance and functions of each body systems and ensure the resilience needed to face changes and challenges. Herbal medicine focuses on the individual and uses plants to reach healthy balance in the body.

It is an holistic and natural approach to health.
